From what I've read (news articles, "human resources" professionals discussions, etc.), bodyshops/ staffing services/ PEOs/ and employment agencies categorize everyone unemployed longer than 4 weeks as "hard core unemployed" or "unemployable", refuse to consider placing them.   They have their screening software send such resumes directly to the trash-bin, never to be seen (nor heard of) by an employment broker or hiring manager.   And then they claim there are no "qualified" (wink wink nudge nudge) job-seekers.   But it is sooooo "efficient"... well, aside from all that wasted talent and productivity. So, the estimated current duration of unemployment while seeking long-term employment ranges from 3 weeks to 30 years, depending on field of work, numbers of cheap, pliant, low-skilled guest-workers with flexible ethics have been admitted, etc.
