The problem is that too many people pay "insurance" premiums that are too high for too many years, only to find that when they are hit by a kamikaze driver, their claim is denied or they are not "made whole", not restored.
When they do fall because of the crumbling steps of city hall or the state-house, their claims are denied, payments to the doctors & nurses & pharmacists are delayed. And the victims are harassed, badgered, threatened.
They are not made whole, not restored, not healed despite the rosy advertisements of the protection rackets to the contrary.
We search & shop in an effort to find a REAL insuror. And when we discover that each, in turn, is more or less of a scammer, we search & shop some more
The racketeers carefully guard their own identities, but not the identities of the "little people". You don't know exactly who improperly denied the claim, who delayed the payment. Was it the agent? the "adjuster"? the accountant? the actuary? the sheister? the manager? the executive? All of the above in conspiracy?
And how much have they spent in lobbying versus making good on valid claims?
How much of our premiums have they spent on their homes & land & vehicles versus making good on valid claims?
You send certified letters and they are signed by some shlub in the mail-room instead of by the addressee. You try to depose them and they send a substitute, instead, usually an unethical sheister, or, these days, a "legal secretary" or "legal assistant" who carries out the job from a script, unthinkingly/blindly following the rote play-acting demanded, but not actually honestly answering questions.
And you can't sue them. It costs way too much to merely file the papers, let alone carry out the suit, jumping to other people's schedules while you try to earn an honest living.
You can't sue the corrupt judges, either. When the corrupt (e.g. bribe-taking, politically motivated) judge, they get "promoted" to congress or whatever instead of being properly disincentivized, let alone, gasp, actually made to be penitent.
No, I have not had all of these happen to me, but people talk, friends talk, co-workers talk, neighbors talk, & we read & listen & watch news reports & books.
We have eyes to see & ears to hear what happens to others around us.
It's what is left of what we CAN do in response to the abuse, and we can petition for redress of grievances.
But we can't spend the money they have demanded, have had government operatives demand, have taken to do so, to sue, to attempt to achieve a reasonable, mutually beneficial result.
